Nittany Lion Open - 2009

Regatta Highlights: Saturday morning started out with thick fog and heavy rain; however, by 10:15am the fog lifted and the rain stopped. Racing began later than scheduled as we waited for the wind to fill in. The first race was off by 10:45am and there was constant breeze of 5-10 knots with gusts up to 13 knots.

THON

Sailing THON is currently engaged in its third year of fundraising for Penn State's annual Dance Marathon. For those unfamiliar, this organization claims the title of largest student-run philanthropy in the world, having raised more than $52 million to benefit pediatric cancer since its creation in 1977. Sailing THON is attempting to exceed last year's total of $8,000 in anticipation of a 46 hour no-sitting-no-sleeping event from February 20-22.
